Reverend Jim Harbell

Minister

Jim Harbell joined Saint Luke’s as Minister in 2025, following his ordination in 2023 and prior service at Metropolitan United Church. Transitioning from a distinguished legal career—having graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and served as a partner specializing in real estate, energy, and environmental law—he pursued theological studies at Emmanuel College, University of Toronto, earning a Master of Pastoral Studies in 2020 and a Master of Divinity in 2022. His ministry experience includes placements at Scarborough Health Network, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and a rural charge in Prince Edward Island.

His pastoral work emphasizes care and social justice, notably as founding president of Restorative Justice Housing Ontario, a charity supporting individuals transitioning from incarceration. At Saint Luke’s, Jim Harbell is dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and community outreach. He and his wife, Pat McQuaid, have four adult children and enjoy time in Prince Edward Island. He is also an avid walker, accompanied by his dog,

Skipper.

David Hallman

David Hallman considers Saint Luke’s as his “spiritual home”, a term his partner Bill first used when they began attending here twenty years ago. After Bill’s cancer death in 2009, this community of faith became even more important to David as a place of support and healing. Over the years, David has become increasingly involved and now services as the Chair of the Church Council. He is also an active volunteer in the Out of the Cold Meal Program. David is committed to helping the congregation grow in its compassion, faith development, and outreach to serve the community and to help others come to see Saint Luke’s as their spiritual home.
